About Millie

Hi there!!

My name is Millie. And, I'm a therapy dog in training.

I know my size might seem a little intimidating, but don't be frightened. I LOVE people, sometimes I show it too much (self-control is hard!). Most things, especially new things and loud noises, make me pretty anxious so I try to avoid those situations. But people and kids, I love! I will roll over for a belly rub just to prove it! And, even give you kisses! (That’s my favorite thing, but my mom, Miss Rebecca to most of you, is helping me to understand not everyone likes them as much as me). If it makes you feel more at ease, I'll even show off what I learned at obedience school! I am here because my mom says I really have a knack for showing people they are special, and giving out lots of love! I have my own room here at the office. I only come out to visit if requested, but please don't hesitate to ask. You can even give me a treat when it is time to say goodbye!

When people come to therapy they share things about their life and how they feel to understand what happened and feel better with time. Here are some things about my life to help you understand me.

I am what they call an Olde English Bulldogge. I was born on February 22, 2015 in Missouri. My mom adopted me on May 7, 2017. They call this my "Gotcha Day". We always celebrate both days! Some of you may have been adopted too. Sometimes when adoption happens not everything is known about our lives. What is known by the big people is I lived in a kennel (kinda like an orphanage for pets), a foster home and a home where I had puppies. I suppose that is why I always look out for babies, kids, puppies and anyone that cries now. I never knew what it was like to be part of a family. I learned to play with toys when I was two, and now enjoy relaxing days playing, taking walks and exploring, sleeping in my bed at the office or on the couch at home. I really like watching Animal Planet TV too.

Sometimes I notice people who come here feel scared or anxious, just like me. You are not alone! I am really afraid of loud noises, thunderstorms, other dogs and being hurt. Sometimes even feel sad. Maybe you can share with me what scares you or makes you feel sad? If you ever feel nervous while you are here and want some company, I am here too. I still get very excited and don’t always remember to use self-control when showing love. Maybe we can even help each other sometimes?? Learning new things is hard work, especially when we have been through a lot of stuff.

Most days, I am at the office in my room. And, will always be excited to see you!

Love,
Millie the Bulldogge
